Tommy DeVito Drive (Belmont Avenue)

Belleville native, singer Tommy DeVito, one of the Four Seasons was to be honored today when the TOMMY DEVITO DRIVE sign was placed atop the street sign at 94 Belmont Avenue, Belleville, where he was born.

The Four Lovers started out in the early '50s, but the individual members' musical backgrounds went back to the 1930s. Their whole story started with the DeVito family of Belleville, a working-class town in northern New Jersey ... Tommy DeVito was born in Belleville, NJ on June 19, 1936. He played guitar and was one of the back up/harmony singers also. He left the FOUR SEASONS in 1970.

Another Four Seasons member, Frankie Valli also lived in Belleville (Newark and Nutley) for a while.

Many families who lived in Silver Lake, North Newark and Bloomfield in the early sixties could tell you how they were related to one of the Four Seasons, or knew someone who was related, or went to school with a brother of one of the Four Seasons...
